Managing time can be a challenging endeavor from time to time. In the past there were a few times I caused my own challenges when I wouldn’t admit I was over allocated to the extent the quality of my performance would suffer. Now I am not against working overtime when it is required, it comes with the job. However, I have learned to be more vocal than in the past about asking for help managing my workload. I used to think asking for assistance was an admission of not being able to do the job. My perspective changed when I ran into a serious problem with a project that had significant issues in part because I did not have enough time to prepare. This was a lesson learned for me. It is ok to push the envelope as long as you don’t place the program or project at too much risk and you are aware of your limitations.
